What is cosmetic dentistry? Dental services for a healthy smile and the supporting aesthetic services aimed at creating a positive change to your teeth and to your smile.
The most popular types of cosmetic dental services provided at our practices in Suntree / Viera, Merritt Island, and Satellite Beach are Invisalign Aligners, Botox, and Teeth Whitening. Using techniques and services like these, Hibiscus Dental’s experienced cosmetic dentists can help to improve your appearance, your smile, even your self-esteem and confidence.
While we all feel we know a beautiful smile when we see one, there is no perfect smile. That’s because each person has a different perception of what is beautiful. So it’s important that you discover what you really like and then communicate that to your dentist. Here are a few ways that cosmetic dentistry may be able to benefit you.
Invisalign® Aligners
Would you like to have straighter teeth?
Invisalign and other orthodontics methods are more commonly referred to as “braces,” but this simple term can be misleading, as the science of orthodontics is actually quite precise. Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created to fit your mouth. Aligner trays (as the inserts are called) are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your doctor plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. Based on your progress, you change to a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little daily interruption.
BOTOX
Would you like to have a more beautiful, youthful smile?
BOTOX is a trusted product, administered over 7 million times a year and has been in the market for over 13 years. The most common uses for BOTOX is smoothing of the facial wrinkles of the forehead, between the eyes and around the corners of the eyes. These most common cosmetic uses have put Botox on the aesthetic map, but did you know that BOTOX is also a helpful tool to your dentist?
BOTOX is primarily used in the face, around your eyes and mouth areas to help relieve muscle tension stress and the wrinkles associated with them. Dentists are focused on making sure you maintain a healthy smile that makes you feel good. You can benefit from your dentist’s musculoskeletal training and awareness to reduce frown lines and the look of aging with some BOTOX to brighten up your smile and face.
Just like other physicians who are licensed and trained in providing injections, dentists are health care practitioners who deliver professional health and wellness services to patients. In fact, our very own Dr. Sweta Gunnell, practicing in Satellite Beach, received her certificate for completed training from AAFE to offer BOTOX to patients as a stand-alone service or as a compliment to cosmetic dentistry.
Would you like to have a whiter, brighter smile?
Most of us start out with sparkling white teeth. Our tooth enamel is designed to protect our teeth from the effects of chewing, gnashing, trauma, and acid attacks caused by sugar. But over the years enamel is worn down, becoming more transparent and permitting the yellow color of dentin – the tooth’s core material – to show through.
Whitening Options
In-Office Whitening
Significant lightening in a short period of time is the major benefit of in-office whitening. This procedure involves the carefully controlled use of a relatively high-concentration peroxide Professionally formulated gel, applied to the teeth by the dentist or trained technician after the gums have been protected with a paint-on rubber dam. Generally, the peroxide remains on the teeth for several 15 to 20 minute intervals that add up to an hour (at most). Those with particularly stubborn staining may be advised to return for one or more additional Whitening sessions, or may be asked to continue with a home-use whitening system.
Professionally Dispensed Take-Home Whitening Kits
Professionally dispensed take-home whitening kits can produce great results over the long haul. Take-home kits incorporate an easy-to-use lower-concentration peroxide gel that remains on the teeth for 30 minutes, one time a day. The gel is applied to the teeth using custom-made bleaching trays that resemble mouth guards.
